What is a matte finish?

A matte finish is a writable translucent finish that allows an entire surface to be writable. It allows the surface texture to remain smooth but not shiny or glossy. Unlike a glossy finish, which reflects light and creates a shiny appearance, a matte finish has a non-reflective, subdued appearance. Plus, the absence of glare on matte surfaces can contribute to enhanced readability, making text and graphics on the card easier to see without interference from reflections.

It can also compliment your design because of its translucency – it works well for designs that require one or many specific writable areas that are defined in the artwork.
